Asian Arowana
Asian Arowana (Scleropages Formosus) is commonly known as the Dragon Fish and they are in demand among Chinese everywhere. They often see it as a symbol of luck, wealth, and prosperity and believe that if they treat the fish well, it will protect them against evil spirits and unpleasant events

Part of the popularity of the Dragon Fish lies in its close resemblance to the Chinese ancient dragon. It is considered one of the best "Feng Shui" fishes around. Feng Shui is the art of geomancy, which seeks to harmonise living with one's natural and overall environment. It is believed that auspicious fishes such as the Dragon Fish, introduce the beneficial life-giving 'YANG' energy to water.

On the other hand, their close relatives, pearl Arowana (Scleropages Jardini) and the spotted Arowana (Scleropages Leichardti) from Australia and New Guinea, are not endangered, and hence, more affordable. Among the cheapest varieties of all however, are their distant relatives, the silver Arowana (Osteoglossum Bicirrhosum) and the black Arowana (Osteoglossum Ferreirai) from South America. These are more commonly found in the wild.
