About
the book
This book was written with the intent of having
the chapters read independently, so that readers could choose
to start at any chapter they like. In The Makings of an Asian
Entrepreneur, Kenny The Fish gives an honest account of
how the Yap family survived many setbacks, overcoming their
problems together and became more united as one family. Kenny
shares his many experiences in running a family business that
has spanned over 12 years.
Kennys greatest challenge in writing this book was the
chapter, Striking a Balance, an art that requires much logic
and practice. Our whole life is about balancing things - once
they become more balanced, life would be easier. Kenny talks
about networking to succeed - the fact that no school teaches
networking but sometimes, it is not what you know, but who you
know. People learn from one another in order to progress but
we can learn from other species too, especially fishes.
The brilliant use of different types of fishes to describe life
and business philosophies in general, coupled with Kennys
10 candid and interesting Fishy Quotes, make this book an inspirational
and enjoyable read.

"A heart-warming story of a humble
young man who was determined to succeed and who never let problems
divert him from his achieving his dream. An exceptionally focused
person, Kenny was never deterred by snide remarks even when
he was a young boy and this moulded him through the years to
become the entrepreneur that he is today. Kenny shares the lessons
of what it takes to be an entrepreneur to be clear about
your objectives before you embark on your vision."

"Reading
Kennys story is an inspirational journey - a journey that
I highly recommend all budding and established entrepreneurs
to take. I must admit that I have never been interested in the
amazing world of fishes until I heard The Fish talk about the
co-relationship between the different types of fish and the
ways of an entrepreneur. I am so glad that Kenny has included
a chapter on illustrating this in this book - it will be a chapter
that I will constantly go back to for inspirational tips.
I have often said that we can only excel in whatever we do if
we have the passion in us. Kennys story clearly illustrates
his passion for life and I believe that this is fundamentally
the driving force behind this amazing entrepreneur. The Fish
clearly lacks nothing in life except that his fish will always
need my water."

"Kennys easy reading, straight
from the heart sharing is inspiring."
